Stephen E. Hood, 77, a longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Frances W. (Horan) Hood with whom he shared 31years of marriage until her passing in 1996.

Stephen was born on February 3, 1943 in Newton, MA, and was a son of the late Eustace B. and Alice N. (Hennessey) Hood.

Stephen was a retired teacher from the Winchester Public Schools after 34 years of dedication. He spent many years as the seasonal manager of the Winchester Boat Club. His greatest joy was spending time with his family at gatherings and family vacations at the Cape. He was beyond proud of his grandchildren and loved cheering them on at sporting events, activities, and award ceremonies.

Stephen leaves his children; Kimberly Hood of Chelmsford, Kristin Imperillo and her husband Edward of Chelmsford, Stephen Hood and his wife Maureen of Nashua, Carolyn LaRosa and her husband Charles of Chelmsford, grandchildren Nicholas, Katherine, Alexander, Steven, Zachary, Dominic, Sydney and many nieces and nephews.

Sadly, he is predeceased by his brothers David and Peter Hood.

Sincere condolences to the Hood family. I have very fond memories of Mr. Hood from the Winchester Boat Club. He had an incredible work ethic and pride in his responsibility for the club and the kids. A genuinely nice human being. My deepest sympathy to his children and grandchildren.

My sincere condolences to the family of "Mr. Hood". He was a great man - I knew him from the Winchester Boat Club - as a youngster and also working alongside him. He had a great humour to him, and great outlook - and was a big influence on my life.

Mr. Hood was an inspiration to me! I had him as a gym teacher in Hastings-on Hudson, NY. He started an after school intramural program that included three grades and three different sports. He hung up the team standings in each grade's hallway. Just a genuine, even-keel person. Later, we moved to Winchester and he was our football coach at Lynch Jr. High. We beat McCall for the first time in years because he and others really got the team to believe in themselves. I'm a teacher, and have been asked off and on who inspired me to enter the teaching profession. It was Mr. Hood- hands down! He had such a great attitude. There's too much to thank him for. Mr. Hood- you made a great impression on me and I'm sorry to read about your passing. What a great man!

I'm so sad for Steve's passing, and extend my deepest sympathy to his family. I was very fortunate to teach with Steve for 30+ years. He was more than a colleague; he was a good friend. A thoughtful gentleman, Steve will be remembered for his support, his many kindnesses, and his endearing smile. Steve was highly respected by the Winchester community and his students LOVED him!
