NASHUA - Edwin Charnley, recently of Nashua, NH, and former longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Ducharme) Charnley who died in 2012.

He was born in Detroit on June 15, 1932.

Edwin was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over 30 years at Raytheon Corporation.

Edwin was a strong advocate for veterans and offered his services as a Veteran's Advocate at Nashua Crossings where he also ran many of the daily activities. He loved to fish, play cribbage and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Hal Charnley and his wife Mary of Concord, MA and three grandchildren who he cherished dearly, Steven, Rosie and Peter Charnley. He also leaves his brother Wilfred and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lil Rollins and his brothers Richard and Frank Charnley.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 to 5 pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Service will be at 10 o'clock on Wednesday at the Funeral Home followed by interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, CHELMSFORD. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Honor Flight Network, 175 South Tuttle Rd., Springfield, OH 45505.

I miss you my dear Mr. Ed ! The last 7 years have been full of laughter,grief, joy, happiness,friendhip and music! You were always there - on every committee, at every social, every news program, the word game(the best) - our go to Veteran- I am so proud of your service! Thanks for the memories Sir! I have been blessed to have had both you and lovely Barbara in my life - Thank you for your support for every one of my projects be it a craft - a cooking lesson or a science experiment - heavens I believe that made us laugh the hardest! Ha! Fresh bread, fortune cookies, mints and garden tomatos- It was quite a ride my friend - my love to your beloved - at last you are once again a team! I will always remember how kind Ed was to my Mom (Lorraine Crowley) during their time at Nashua Crossings. He would always fix her collar and share candy. He will be greatly missed.
