Obituary for Edwin Charnley

NASHUA - Edwin Charnley, recently of Nashua, NH, and former longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua at the age of 86. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara M. (Ducharme) Charnley who died in 2012.

He was born in Detroit on June 15, 1932.

Edwin was a veteran of the United States Navy having served during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over 30 years at Raytheon Corporation.

Edwin was a strong advocate for veterans and offered his services as a Veteran's Advocate at Nashua Crossings where he also ran many of the daily activities. He loved to fish, play cribbage and spend time with his family.

He is survived by his son, Hal Charnley and his wife Mary of Concord, MA and three grandchildren who he cherished dearly, Steven, Rosie and Peter Charnley. He also leaves his brother Wilfred and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Lil Rollins and his brothers Richard and Frank Charnley.

Visitation will be on Tuesday from 3 to 5 pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. His Funeral Service will be at 10 o'clock on Wednesday at the Funeral Home followed by interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, CHELMSFORD.
