Obituary for Nancy D. Maynard (Dean)

Nancy D. Maynard (Dean)
Nancy (Dean) Maynard- 93, passed away on September 19, 2018. Nance, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 17, 1925 to Harry and Mary Dean. She grew up in Providence, Rhode Island and graduated from Lincoln School in Providence and from Colby Junior College (now Colby Sawyer College) in New Hampshire. She attended Katherine Gibbs School in Providence and began her career as an administrative assistant in the Boston Pops administrative offices of Arthur Fiedler.

Married to William Maynard in 1948, they had three daughters: Mary (George), Shirley and Barbara (Edward), six grandchildren: Jennifer, Christine (Brian), Bradford (Kelly), Heidi (Michael), Owen (Joey) and Bridget (Sam), and eight great-grandchildren; Hannah, Nolan, Benjamin, Alexander, Tyler, Briana, Layla and Brooks. Nance survived her parents, Mary and Harry, and her beloved husband, Bill, by more than 34 years.

Living in Boston, Bedford and Chelmsford, Massachusetts and Grantham, NH during her married years, Nance was active in the Greater Lowell Girl Scouts, the Paint and Powder Club of Lowell, and the Central Congregational Church in Chelmsford. As an administrative assistant, her career included positions in the legal profession, the Chelmsford Schools, Chelmsford School Committee, Chelmsford Planning Board and private industry.

Nance will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family and friends, her talent on the piano, her love of classical music, her lifelong support for Fleur de Lis Camp and her long and active involvement with Colby Sawyer College Alumnae. Her greatest joys were the times spent with her family and friends, enjoying vacations, traveling, entertaining with Bill at her home in Eastman, cheering for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren at their sporting events and knitting. All through her life she enjoyed knitting for family and friends.

A Celebration of Nancy's life will be held at the Central Congregational Church, 1 Worthen Street, Chelmsford, MA at 10am on Friday, September 28th, 2018. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy's name to Fleur de Lis Camp, www.fleurdeliscamp.org or 120 Howeville Road, Fitzwilliam, NH, 03447
