BREWSTER, MA-John "Jack" Francis Bastian passed away in Brewster, MA on October 24, 2011 after a courageous battle with cancer. His loving wife, Betty, was at his side.
He was born in Medford, MA in 1932 and was the son of the late Henry and Mary (Spillane) Bastian. He was educated in Medford, and after high school served in the US Army. For many years he worked at Murray Printing (Courier) in Westford until his retirement to Cape Cod and Florida.
He was married for 24 years to his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betty" (Ansill/Murdoch) with whom he enjoyed traveling to their retirement home in Florida and other destinations. He loved having family and friends visit with him at Cape Cod and Florida.
He was an avid reader, cook and Boston sports fan. He was a charter and lifetime member of the Chelmsford Lodge of Elks where he was well known for his wit and musical talents.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 3 children, John "Jackie" of Westford, Thomas and wife Tia of Clermont, Florida and Barbara and husband Hugh Gonglewski of Pinecrest, Florida. He was the father of the late Jimmy Bastian. He is also survived by step-children, Faith Morgida, Valerie and her husband Mike King, Brian Ansill and his wife Carol and Glenn Ansill and his companion Teri Robertson. He was the grandfather to 11 grandchildren and one great grandson.
Visitation will be held at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMFORD on Saturday, November 26th from 8:30 until 9:30AM followed by his Funeral Service at 9:30AM. Burial at Fox Hill Cemetery, Billerica.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jack's name to the Joubert Syndrome & Related Disorders Foundation, c/o Jonathan Morgan, 414 Hungerford Dr., Suite 252, Rockville, MD 20850 in honor of his grandson, Jackie Bastian or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Rd., 2nd floor, Bethesda, MD 20814 in memory of his son, Jimmy Bastian.
