Evelyna (anderson) (birtwell)  Davis
CHELMSFORD-Evelyna (Anderson) (Birtwell) Davis, 94, a longtime resident of Chelmsford passed away on October 14, 2011 at Meadow Lodge Assisted Living. She was the beloved wife of the late James Birtwell who died in 1998 and Charles Wilbur Davis who died in 2008. She was born in Lowell on August 9, 1917, a daughter of the late Conrad J. and Anna (Wikgren) Anderson.
Evelyna received her early education in Lowell Schools and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Lowell State Teacher's College. Prior to her retirement she worked over 40 years as a Teacher for both the Billerica and Chelmsford Public School Systems.
She was a member of the Chelmsford St. Baptist Church where she was very active in her younger years and still a member to her death. She was a member of the Middlesex Women's Club, Massachusetts Retired Teachers Organization and sang for an extended period with the Chelmsford Seniors and in the Chelmsford St.Baptist Church Choir along with her husband, Wilbur.
Evelyna is survived by two step-children, MaryLyn (Davis) Colburn and her husband Phil of Pelham, NH, and Gary Davis of New York City, NY, two grandchildren, Julie (Colburn) Giniewicz and her husband Eric of Pelham, NH and Lynda (Colburn) Biron and her husband David of So Windsor, CT as well as four great-grandchildren, Alex Biron, Andrew Biron, Sarah Giniewicz and Ethan Giniewicz. She also leaves two sisters, Estelle Gibbs of Portsmouth, NH, Elinor Marshall and her husband Coit of Mt. Olive, AL; sister-in-law Mabel (Birtwell) Sommers and her late husband William of NH and many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her daughter Barbara Birtwell, and siblings Ethel (Anderson) Bolton, Ella Anderson, Elvera Anderson, Edna (Anderson) Nelson, CJ "Huck" Anderson, Roy Anderson, Harry Anderson.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the BLAKE FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Her Funeral Service will be offered on Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock at the Chelmsford St. Baptist Church, 524 Chelmsford Street, Lowell, MA. PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Evelyna's memory may be made to the Memorial Fund, Chelmsford Street Baptist Church, 524 Chelmsford St., Lowell, MA 01851.
