Obituary for Mary T O'Rourke
BURLINGTON, MA – Mary T. (Slavic) O’Rourke, 91, recently of Burlington, MA and former lifelong resident of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2016 at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. She was the loving wife of the late John J. O’Rourke and beloved mother of Tom, Trish, and Maureen.
She was born on August 16, 1924 in Poughkeepsie, NY and was a daughter of the late Frank J. and Anna (Rituper) Slavic.
Mary was born and raised in Poughkeepsie, NY and was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. She spent her career working as a representative for New York telephone companies. A longtime member of St. Mary’s Church in Wappinger’s Falls, NY, and the Mother’s Guild at St. Mary’s School, Mary moved to Burlington, MA in 2014 to be close to her family.
Mary is survived by her children; Thomas O’Rourke and his wife Patty of Austin, TX, Patricia Pena of Chelmsford, and Maureen O’Rourke and her husband James Molloy of Brookline, MA, and grandchildren; Jason and Justin Schmidt and their families. She also leaves her nieces and nephews; Anne Strahota, Eleanor Bobbitt, and Jeanne DeGrandis and their families. She was the sister of the late Frank A. Slavic and Louis Slavic, aunt of the late Mary Slavic and mother-in-law of the late Eliseo Pena.
Friends may call at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 E. Main St.., Wappinger’s Falls, NY on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 o’clock at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton St., Wappinger’s Falls, NY.
Interment in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
