Obituary for William W. Taylor

CHELMSFORD - William W. "Bill" Taylor, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Lowell General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Katherine (Crawford) Taylor who died in 2001.

Born in Chelmsford on December 25, 1921, he was a son of the late Ancel and Lena (Tucker) Taylor.

Following graduation from Lowell Technical Institute, Bill entered the Naval Academy where he received a commission as Lieutenant JG, then as Captain of an escort ship in the Philippines during WWII. He was a proud member of the Ancient York Lodge of masons for many years.
At the age of 65, Bill retired as President and COO of the Faulkner Woolen Mills company. During his retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Katherine, all across the United States and Canada, playing golf and most importantly, spending quality time with his loving family and close friends.

Bill is survived by his daughters; Kathie MacKenzie and her husband Ed of Manchester, NH and Linda LaPorte and her husband Bob of Chelmsford, his son William Taylor and his wife Donna of Deltona, FL, five grandchildren; Kimberlee McCrady and her husband Kevin of Littleton, Lisa Rowsell and her husband Ricky of Chelmsford, Lee Marchand, III of Chelmsford, John MacKenzie and his wife Karen of Goffstown, NH, Dana MacKenzie of Nashua, NH, step grandsons; Joseph LaPorte of Maine and Tom LaPorte and his partner Ashley of Vermont, six great-grandchildren; Christopher McCrady and his wife Paula, Danielle McCrady and her husband Mark, Ricky and Taylor Rowsell, and Shealin and Kylee MacKenzie, a step great-granddaughter Ariah LaPorte, and three great-great-grandchildren; Emmett McCrady Mohamed, Theodore McCrady and Jameson McCrady.

Bill was predeceased by his sister Grace Johnson and his son-in-law Lee Marchand, Jr.

Funeral services and interment in West Chelmsford Cemetery will be PRIVATE.
