Obituary for Virginia E. Pontefract (Eriksen)
Virginia E. (Eriksen) Pontefract, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away at D'Youville Senior Care on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the age of 94. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. Pontefract who died in 2009.
Virginia was born in Chelmsford on July 6, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Henry and Helen (MacFayden) Eriksen. Her friends knew her as “Ginny”
She attended Chelmsford High School, served as a class agent and graduated in 1942. Ginny was a member of the All Saints Church, Quilt Club, Chelmsford Garden Club, Friends of Library and American Womens Club of Antigua.
Ginny worked for AT&T as an operator and Lowell General Hospital gift shop.
She liked to spend time volunteering, figure skating, dancing and traveling.
Virginia is survived by two daughters, Susan Fowler and her husband Wade of Weare, NH and Karen Pellegrino and her husband Dino Kokinos of West Palm Beach, FL, three grandchildren; Robin Flynn of Maricopa, AZ and Brett Fowler and Nick Fowler, both of Weare, NH, and a great-grandson, Ryan A. Flynn.
It being her wish, calling hours have been omitted.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11 o'clock at Pine Ridge Cemetery, 130 Billerica Road, Chelmsford. Kindly gather at the cemetery.
