Obituary for Vasiliki "Bessie" Nicolakakis (Mihalochrista)

Vasiliki “Bessie” Nicolakakis, 87, died peacefully on April 15, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the loving wife of Nicholas Nicolakakis who predeceased her in 2013.

Vasiliki was born on August 5, 1933 in Georgitsi Sparta, Greece. She was the daughter of the late George and Konstantina (Manasiotis) Mihalochrista. In her younger years, Vasiliki spent time tending to her family’s olive trees in her village.

Vasiliki immigrated to the United States in 1967. For many years, she worked as a seamstress at various textile companies throughout the area.

Vasiliki was an avid gardener and she faithfully tended to her large vegetable garden and beautifully adorned flower beds. She was an amazing cook who created wonderful meals for her family. Vasiliki’s Orthodox faith and Greek culture were incredibly meaningful to her.

Vasiliki’s main passion in life was her devotion to her family. She was a very loving and nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother whose most valued role in life was as a caregiver. Her most cherished moments were experiences she had and memories she created with her loving family.
