Obituary for Thomas F. "Tighe" Hawkins, III
Thomas "Tighe" Francis Hawkins III, of Medford, MA entered eternal rest on February 21, 2019 due to a sudden cardiac arrest.
Tighe was born June 13, 1971 in Evanston, Illinois. He is survived by his parents Tim and Jan Hawkins, his daughter; Abigail, his sisters; Beth (Chris) Walsh and Laura (Jim) Benkovich, and the Sougnez Family. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He was raised in Hinsdale, IL and Westport, CT. As an adult, Tighe attended Northeastern University in Boston, MA. Tighe had a life long love of the outdoors and adventure activities and was an active member of NUHOC (Northeastern University Huskiers and Outing Club). During this time of his life, he spent nearly every weekend at the Brown Memorial Lodge in Shelburne, NH and enjoyed hiking, camping and leading trips. He loved playing cards and strategy games and was particularly talented at winning rounds of trivial pursuit. Tighe continued all of these activities with his daughter Abigail (age 12) who shared countless adventures with him including hiking to almost all of the AMC White Mountain Huts. Tighe was a loving father to Abigail with whom he had a special bond. Tighe loved sports, both watching and playing and often liked to spend his free time seeing Red Sox games either at home or at the park.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 27, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford, MA followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 in the funeral home. Interment in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to www.gofundme.com/tighe-hawkins-memorial-lodge or to the Abigail Hawkins educational fund at a financial institution to be announced.
