Obituary for Thomas M. Dole

Thomas M. Dole of Chelmsford, formally of Saint Mary’s PA., passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by his family.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Roselinde (Wehner) Dole, whom he shared 49 years of marriage until her passing in 2006, as well as his adored son, Charles Dole. He was a son of the late Sumner A. and Florence (Hinckley) Dole. Tom was predeceased by his three Brothers Al, Phil, and Rod and is survived by his favorite sister, Nancy Mellish. Thomas leaves his daughter Anna D. Walukevich and her husband Mark of Chelmsford. He also survives his grandchildren Andrew and Michelle Jaquint as well as his step-grandchildren, Katherine Walukevich-Dienst, and Nick and Thomas Walukevich.

Mr. Dole was born in Willimantic, CT on June 30, 1934. He attended Peacham Academy in Vermont, class of 52’. He went to University of Maine for two years and then joined the U.S. Army in 1955 and was stationed in Germany earning the rank of sergeant and assigned as tank section chief. Most importantly, Tom met and married his wife, Rosie, in Germany. After returning to the U.S., Tom received his bachelor’s degree at UConn and later graduated from Duke Law School in 1963.

Tom's career as a corporate lawyer took him many places, including upstate New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts. He enjoyed his last position as a General Counselor for Stackpole Corporation. Tom most valued and cherished the seven years spent in Saint Mary’s PA with his family, where they made lifelong friends.

During his life Tom enjoyed camping across country, traveling abroad with family, sailing, and putting his carpentry skills to use, often when fixing up his homes, or when creating wood-carved figurines for all his grandchildren. Above all, he enjoyed a good joke. What he will be most remembered for is his smart and oh so quick humor that kept everyone around him laughing.

A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 9, 2022 at 1pm. Interment will be held privately.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to Cranberry Hospice in Plymouth Massachusetts at cranberryhospice.org.
