Obituary for Thelma A Bernard (Ghilardi)
Thelma A. (Ghilardi) Bernard, former Tewksbury and Chelmsford resident, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Westford House. She was the beloved wife of the late Ernest H. Bernard, Sr.
Thelma was born in Somerville, MA on June 29, 1924 to the late Ceborena and Celestina (Marube) Ghilardi.
She was well known as a very social and welcoming person who helped everyone she met. At McFarland Manor, Thelma won awards for her warm personality and hospitality. She was always happy in a social setting. She was a longtime member of the Elks in Tewksbury. In her spare time she enjoyed bingo and pokeno. Most of all she loved her family gatherings and loved to be included in everything. Thelma was well loved by everyone who knew her.
Thelma is survived by her daughter; Ann Doyle and her husband John "Jack" of Littleton, her grandchildren; LeeAnn Doyan and her husband Matt, Erin Johnson and her husband Jamie, Kim Doyle, Jared Doyle, her great-grandchildren; Ryan, Kaycee, Joshua, Elizabeth, Jaylen, Cali, and Owen, her daughter-in-law Janet of Hampton, NH, and many nieces and nephews. Sadly Thelma is preceded in death by her son; Ernest H. Bernard who also passed away Dec. 16, 2018, her daughter; Barbara Kilkelly, her granddaughter Jill Doyle, her siblings Catherine Russell, Doris Graves, Lillian Tierney, Anthony Ghilardi, and son-in-law Michael Kilkelly.
Visiting Hours will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, at the BLAKE CHELSMFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELSMFORD.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 o'clock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., CHELMSFORD. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH.
Interment to follow at Tewsbury Cemetery, 172 East St., Tewksbury.
