Obituary for Susan Barbara Willand
Susan Barbara Willand, 54, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020. She was the loving mother of Julia R. Willand.
Susan “Sue” was born in Arlington, MA on June 25, 1965, and was the daughter of the late James H. and Ellen R. (Regan) Willand.
Sue was raised in Chelmsford, she was always surrounded by friends and always up for an adventure. Growing up she was close with her siblings and neighborhood friends. She attended Chelmsford High School graduating class of 1983 and earned a degree from Middlesex Community College. She loved caring for others, which inspired her to become a dental assistant for over 20 years. She made her patients feel at ease and safe, while preforming excellent patient care. She brought humor to the dental office she worked at, playing pranks on April Fools day and adding her bright spirit to the work week.
Sue took great pride and worked hard to raise her daughter on her own, always the fun cool mom ready with warmth and love. She gave unconditional love, affection and empowerment to her daughter. Sue installed the importance of giving back to others and appreciating the little things in life, such as the beauty of nature and music. She raised her daughter to be a reflection of herself which was to always be driven, confident and compassionate.
She was passionate about health and fitness, hiking, and going on walks with her dog. She was an avid runner, participating in countless 5Ks and completed multiple half and full marathons. Sue was a determined person who set her mind to goals and completed them, which inspired others to join. She loved spending summers on the beach in Cape Cod and taking day trips around New England. She enjoyed traveling to tropical places and to Ireland. Sue loved music and would frequent concerts throughout the year. She was passionate about Boston sports and would attend Red Sox games religiously. She was well known for her positive and bright outlook, her adventurous spirit and kindness. She always cared for others before herself. She cherished her time spent with her beloved family.
In addition to her daughter, Sue is survived by her beloved boyfriend Robert “Bob” Sheehan; sister Patricia (Willand) Hampton of (Maynard, MA); brother Christopher Willand & sister in law Kristen Willand of (Acton, MA); nieces and nephews Ronald Hampton, William Hampton, Susan Teal and spouse Lincoln Teal, Teresa Willand, Diana Willand & Nicholas Willand; and Bob’s two sons & his three grandchildren.
Susan Willand left us too soon, she lived a beautiful life and will be missed terribly by her family, friends and community.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. Funeral Services & Celebration of Life will be held privately.
