Obituary for Stanley Allan Fottler

Stanley Allan Fottler, 91, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chelmsford, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth “Betty” Lang (McKinlay) Fottler with whom he shared 63 years of marriage until her passing in 2014.

He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on August 7, 1931 and was the son of the late Merrill and Doris (Alborn) Fottler. He grew up in Wauwatosa, WI.

Stan attended Monmouth College and Western College, and completed a Masters degree at Wayne State University with a focus on mathematics and physics. Across time, Stan’s work with thin and thick film resistors, semiconductors, and hybrid circuits included several patents in collaboration with his workplaces at GM Research Center, Texas Instruments, Phillip Morris (MEPCO), Zenith, and Raytheon. Stan loved the Lord and was always active in church leadership and sang in the choir. Locally he was an Elder at Grace Chapel. He also enjoyed playing on the church softball team.

A devoted and loving family man. Stanley leaves his children, Margaret Johnson and her husband Rick of Woburn, Heather Jean Mangian and her husband John of Savoy, IL, Doris Hathaway and her husband Bob of Westford, Linda Wyke and her husband Stephen of Westford, Bruce Fottler and his wife Melody of Chelmsford, and David Fottler of Billerica.

He is also mourned by his 14 grandchildren, Paul (Megan) Johnson, David (Nicole) Mangian, Betsy (Pat) Drumm, Matthew Wyke, Erin (Davis) Shannon, Mark (Alyssa) Johnson, Brandon Wyke, John (Theresa) Hathaway, Amanda (Terry) Seets, Ben (Efrat) Hathaway, Connor (Michelle) Wyke, Kyle Wyke, Jacob Fottler, and Drew Fottler, along with 15 great grandchildren.

Sadly, he is predeceased by his grandson, Justin Fottler, his brother James Fottler, and his sister, Nancy Mayers.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, May 12, 2023 from 4 – 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. His Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, May 13, at 10 am. Interment to follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer's Association.
