Obituary for Ronald V. "Ron" St. Jean

Ronald “Ron” V. St. Jean, age 75, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 23, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He was fierce and fought with tremendous strength until his body needed rest. He was the beloved husband of Susan (Brazee) St. Jean with whom he enjoyed 34 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on March 28, 1947 and was the son of the late Victor and Lena (LaFortune) St. Jean.

Ron grew up with his sister Michelle in a close community in South Lowell. Michelle can attest, he was a good big brother even though he was a jokester. He graduated from St. Joseph's High School with the graduating class of 1964. After high school he enlisted in the US Navy where he served from 1964 until 1970. He married Karen (Cote) St. Jean-Dubois in 1966 and they have three sons.

Ron joined the Lowell firefighters and made Lieutenant before an on-the-job injury called for his retirement in 1981. He met his wife Sue in 1981. They dated (she chased him) for many years, and they married in 1988. They have one son.

Ron was fun, spontaneous and unique. He would fly to Miami on a date with Sue, or drive with the top down on his convertible in a blizzard. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was an avid fisherman and won many trophies in local tournaments. He loved fishing with his boys, his grandkids, and with Sue, even when she caught the biggest fish. His favorite fishing spot was Mousam Lake in Sanford, ME. Many will never forget the "boys’ fishing trip" in May each year.

His humor, advice, and love for fun will be missed.

In addition to his loving wife, Ron is survived by his four sons, Chris St. Jean, Michael St. Jean and his fiancé Amy Bojlie, Thomas St. Jean and his wife Meaghan, and Stephen St. Jean; his grandchildren, Victoria, Katherine, Michael, and Jakob St. Jean, and Brielle Lombardo; his sister, Michelle St. Jean; his mother-in-law, Patricia (Mawn) Brazee; his sisters-in-law, Marylou Brazee and her partner Jo Rowe, and Lynn (Brazee) Gray and her husband Tyler; his nephews, Andrew and Matthew Gray; and many close friends.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 11am at the Blake Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Newhouse Wildlife Rescue, P.O. Box 596, Chelmsford, MA 01824. Or The Chelmsford Food Pantry, P.O. Box 394, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
