Obituary for Robert A. "Bob" Morris

Robert A. Morris, Sr. a long-time resident of Chelmsford and beloved husband of Sandra M. (Berg) Morris for 53 years passed in Hospice under the Veterans Administration at the Blaire House in Tewksbury, MA.

Bob was born in Stoneham, MA on December 3, 1942, and was the dear son of the late John H. and Kathleen E. (Sweet) Morris.

Bob grew up in Stoneham, MA, graduated from Stoneham High School, and attended both Bentley College and Southern New Hampshire University.

Bob is also survived by three children, Kristin M. Morris of Chelmsford, Robert A. Morris, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Nashua, NH, and Jonathan C. Morris and his wife Sarah of Dracut. He also leaves his four grandchildren whom he thought the world of; James R. Thomas, III and Roark M. Thomas (twins) and Drew R. Morris and Emma C. Morris (twins) of Dracut. He is also survived by a sister, Patricia A. LaCroix of Tewksbury, and his brother-in-law, Carroll M. Berg, Jr. and his wife Mary-Ellen of Goffstown, NH. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and his dear friends, Linda Koski, Rose Donahue and Carol Carpenter. He traveled with these dear friends to Washington, D.C. (twice), Williamsburg, Las Vegas and Hoover Dam. He also spent wonderful, relaxing days at Linda and Rose’s home in Sebastian, Florida.
Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army at the beginning of the Vietnam War and proudly served his country. He loved this country dearly and always took the time to stop and thank a Veteran. He loved the American Flag and proudly flew one in his front and back yards as well as the Vietnam POW flag. One of his favorite holidays was the fourth of July. He looked forward to Chelmsford’s 4th of July festivities every year. Bob worked for many years in Finance for Kodak, PepsiCo, EG & G, Ektron and the Atlantic Bus Company. He retired at the age of 62 after being diagnosed with Aggressive Chronic Lymphatic Leukemia. Having to stop chemotherapy early due to complications, he fought his disease and lived another 16 years despite many additional medical challenges. Bob loved Disney World and he and Sandi traveled there for many years. He loved going to Vermont each summer with the family and close friends where they made many years of wonderful memories. He was an avid reader of Military Non-fiction and enjoyed just sitting in his back yard with a good book.

Visiting Hours will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 from 4:00 – 7:00 pm in the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Due to gathering limitations, his funeral service and interment will be held privately. You are invited to view his graveside service with full military honors on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 at 10:00 am.
