Obituary for Richard J. "Dick" Waldron

Richard J. “Dick” Waldron, age 81, a resident of Chelmsford, passed away at Lowell General Hospital on Saturday, February 26, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Boston on October 10, 1940 and was the son of the late Francis and Anna (Callahan) Waldron.

Dick was raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School class of 1960. He worked in Boston for the MBTA as an operator until his retirement. Dick was a fan of all Boston sports and never missed a NASCAR race. He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Ruocco council #9275. Dick cherished time spent with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children; Rick Waldron and his wife Hilary of Westford, Colleen Johnson and her husband Scott of Dudley, Chris Waldron and his wife Erica of Lunenburg and Erin Needle and her husband Bob of Holbrook, his grandchildren; Christopher Johnson, Jack Waldron, Michael Johnson, Peter Waldron, Brendan Needle, Olivia Waldron, Maeve Needle, Jake Waldron and Maggie Needle, his nephews; Bob Lillis, John Lillis, Tom Lillis and Michael Waldron. Dick was predeceased by his siblings; Francis Waldron and Catherine Lillis, also the mother of his children Brenda (Connolly) Waldron.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 10am to 11:30am at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. A funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute at dana-farber.org.
