Richard Victor Murphy, age 64, a longtime North Chelmsford resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jodie L. (Hewey) Murphy with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York on February 18, 1958 and was a son of the late Richard P. and Marcella E. (Salomone) Murphy.

He was raised in Brooklyn, was a graduate of Xavier High School, and furthered his education at Polytechnic Institute of New York from where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. His love for the outdoors was well known. Richard was an avid craftsman who was skilled at all household projects. He loved to cook for his family and friends, who enjoyed the meals he created. Richard had a great sense of humor, always ready with a joke or witty repartee. Most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends.
