Obituary for Richard Edmund "Dick" Massucco

Richard E. “Dick” Massucco, age 79, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away at Sunny Acres on Friday, February 11, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. He is now reunited with his grandson Derek who passed away in 2019. He was the beloved husband of Ronna (Rosatto) Massucco with whom he enjoyed almost 53 years of marriage.

He was born in Brookline on February 26, 1942 and was the son of the late Melvin J. and Josephine (Masi) Massucco.

Dick was an architectural engineer for over 30 years at the Polaroid Corp in Waltham. He also worked a few nights a week at Mall Liquors in Billerica where he loved talking to people and playing the lottery. Dick enjoyed gambling and trips to any casino where he would sit at a 3 card poker table for hours with his brother Mel and closest friends. Dick loved his family and friends. Always helping, he would show up with his tool belt and bag of candy. There was nothing he could not do. Dick enjoyed many years vacationing at Squam Lake with his parents and brother. Later, he and Ronna turned a cottage in Waterboro, Maine into a second home, where many memories were made. He was affectionately known as “Lake Papa” to all the kids. Dick loved sitting with neighbors talking. He always had a great story to make everyone laugh. He was quick witted and had a knack for putting people at ease. Dick had many great accomplishments in life, his biggest was the life and the family he and Ronna made together. His children, grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren were everything to him.

In addition to his loving wife, Dick is survived by his children; Gary Massucco and his wife Kim and Shelley Massucco, his granddaughters; Ashley Fontaine and her husband Chris, Allie Bonaiuto and Janessa Luke, his grandson Nick Bonaiuto, his bonus grandsons; Nick, Stephen and Michael Kaltsas, his two great-grandchildren; Aubrey and Carson Fontaine, bonus great-grandson, Kagen Fontaine, his brother Mel Massucco and his wife Flo, and his brother-in-law Dennis Rosatto. Dick also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and many close friends whom he adored. Sadly, Dick was predeceased by his grandson Derek Massucco and sister-in-law Joanie.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday at 1pm at Pine Ridge Cemetery 130 Billerica Rd., Chelmsford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in his memory can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at afsp.org.
