Obituary for Richard M. Herget

Richard Marvin Herget, age 89, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at his home on January 26, 2022 after suffering a stroke.

Dick was born on October 27, 1932 in Peoria, Illinois. He earned a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1959 from Bradley University while simaltaneously working to support a wife and four children. Dick and his wife of 69 years, Phyllis (Parrent) Herget, moved their family to Massachusetts where he worked for many decades at Raytheon. He enjoyed many hobbies, especially golf, doing woodworking projects, going to the gym, and playing the accordian. Dick was a member and volunteer at Central Congregational Church in Chelmsford. He always was available to assist one of his daughters or a friend who needed some help. Dick was kind, devoted to his family and he was dearly loved by his 5 daughters. He will be missed by those who knew him.

In addition to his wife Phyllis, Dick is survived by his five daughters; Debra Herget of NH, Sue Demogenes and her husband Tom of FL, Julie Herget and her husband John Nolan of MA, Laura Herget and her husband Don Geoffroy of MA, and Holli Clarke and her husband Tom Clarke of MA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; Jasmine Tyler and her husband Phil, Alexandra Martin and her husband Shawn Kelly, Nina Martin, Samuel Martin and his wife Simone, Cora Geoffroy, Phillip Geoffroy, Benjamin Clarke, and John Herget-Nolan, his great grandson Parker Tyler and his older sister Doris Whit of Peoria, Illinois.

Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made in his memory to Central Congregational Church, cccchelmsford.org.
