Obituary for Richard A Carey

Richard Alan Carey, 91 years young, passed away after a brief illness, on Nov. 2, 2018.

He was born on May 25, 1927 in Waltham, Massachusetts. Richard was the son of Carl T. and Alice E. (Griffin) Carey of Belmont, Mass and attended the Belmont, MA public school system. He received an honorable discharge after serving with the U.S. Navy in the years immediately following World War II. After his military service, he became an apprentice with the National Cash Register, Co. and served as a field service technician in the greater Boston area until his retirement in 1992. Richard resided in Chelmsford, MA with his longtime love, his “Jellybean”, Rita M. Richardson.

He is survived by his children, Elaine C. (Carey) Morton and her husband, John of Ft. Pierce, FL; Alan T. Carey and his wife, Robin C. (Canty) Carey of Townsend, MA. and Jay R. Carey and his wife, Gail F. (Kaminsky) Carey of Salem, CT. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Lauren J. (Carey) Szumita, Lindsay A. (Carey) Legassie, Samantha C. (Carey) Le Clair, Ian R. Carey and Brittany L. Carey, as well as two great-grandchildren; Lucy B. Legassie and Carey M. Szumita. Richard also leaves Rita's daughters, Kim Richardson of Chester, NH, and Chris (Richardson) Dresser and her husband Bob of Litchfield, NH.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday Nov. 8, 2018, from 4-7 PM at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St. CHELMSFORD. Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
