Obituary for Rennie M. Grugan

Rennie M. Grugan, 90, a longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2023 at Academy Manor, Andover, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Sylvia (Counter) Grugan.

He was born in Lowell on November 2, 1932.

Rennie was raised in Lowell, Massachusetts and graduated from Lowell High School. Upon graduation, he worked for the New England Gas Company. He retired young and found a passion for real estate. He was on the Board of Trustees at Lowell 5 Cent Saving Bank and used his connection to invest in various real estate and businesses such as opening the first Woman’s Worlds. Rennie was a member of Vesper Country Club, yet he never played a round of golf. He loved the parties. Rennie enjoyed spending time at Corporation Beach in Dennis. He loved to watch any New England sports team but had great passion for the New England Patriots.

Rennie is survived by his daughters, Deborah Eguia of Hampton Beach, and Wendy Monahan and her husband William of Yarmouth Port; and his five grandchildren, Sean Marcaurelle of Nantucket, Tamara Marcaurelle of Nashua, Devanie Moore of Natick, Colby Monahan of Portsmouth, and Jacob Monahan of West Yarmouth. He also leaves behind eight great granddaughters, with a ninth great grandchild due in the spring.

In addition to his wife, he is sadly predeceased by his grandson, Sean Marcaurelle.

Graveside services will be held privately. Memorial donations may be made in Rennie’s name to the Sean M. Marcaurelle Memorial Scholarship Fund at Chelmsford High School.
