Obituary for Ramona Taranto

Ramona Taranto, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully after a long illness with frontotemporal dementia. She was the daughter of the late James T., Sr. and Velma C. (Vigil) Taranto. She was a graduate of Chelmsford High School and University of Massachusetts, Lowell.

Moni was a wonderful sister, who was like a second Mom to us and our children. She loved her nieces and nephews with all her heart and spoiled them. She loved all animals, especially her cats. Her most recent cat, Heath was her “handsome boy” as she fondly referred to him and he certainly knew how much he was loved by her. She had exceptional taste and was always willing to help us pull an outfit together or iron our clothes to look impeccable. She was a terrific cook who prepared all the holiday meals along with baking our family favorite Italian specialties. She had impeccable taste and was the giver of exceptional gifts. She enjoyed socializing and had a large circle of friends who loved her as we did. She will be missed tremendously by all.

Moni was an amazing friend to so many. She would pull you in to her circle and make you part of her family. She valued the friendships she made over the years. She had so many groups that she brought together from her Chelmsford Girls to her Pub Girls and so many others that she truly adored. She had such a vibrant personality... a hot ticket, one in a million, the life of the party... were all words you could use to describe her. She treasured the many trips she made with friends...Hampton Beach, Loon, Maine, Vermont, Greece, New Mexico...to name just a few. She was exceptionally generous and did so much for so many without expecting anything in return. She was always there for you, always willing to help. Although never having children of her own, she loved the children of her many friends as if they were her own and was a Godmother to several of them. Everyone adored Aunty Moni. Moni loved her friends, her family, her flowers, especially her Mom's Hollyhocks. She loved to read, swimming in her pool and her fast cars. She loved her work as a Bartender and Server and the many people she met through it. She deeply touched the lives of those who knew her and will be truly missed by all.

She is survived by her sister Jody Sylvester(husband Vincent) of Palm Bay, FL, sister Lisa Couture(husband Daniel) of Chelmsford, MA, Jonna Green(husband Michael) and brother James Taranto(wife Richelle) of Charlestown, MA. Her nieces Christina Sylvester, Victoria Sylvester, Danielle Veerman, Michelle Couture, Melony Couture and Isabella Taranto. Nephews Vinny Sylvester, Benjamin Sylvester and Samuel Taranto. She is survived by 4 great nieces and 3 great nephews, and her beloved cat “Heath”.

There will be a celebration of life after the COVID-19 pandemic with her ashes to be dispersed into the wind in Truchas NM with her beloved mother Velma.
