Obituary for Philip W. Stahmer

Philip Walther Stahmer
May 17, 1940 – March 20, 2022


Philip was born May 17, 1940 and was welcomed home by our Heavenly Father on March 20, 2022. He passed away peacefully in Chelmsford, MA. Philip was one of five children born to Reverend H.D. Stahmer and Celeste Stahmer.

In 1964, Philip graduated from Concordia Teacher’s College in Seward, NE where he met his wife of 50 years Roxanne Stahmer (Suelflow). They were married at Zion Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls, SD on June 28, 1964. They have a son Michael of San Diego, CA and daughter Jennifer St. Peter of Chelmsford, MA as well as 4 grandchildren, Allison, Sophia, Chloe, and Jack. Philip taught Parochial School for a number of years in Bronx, NY before becoming Assistant Director of Admissions and Recruitment at Concordia College in Bronxville, NY. He and his wife and family moved to Waterloo, IA in 1976 where he worked for Aid Association for Lutherans (Thrivent Financial) for 25 years. He and Roxanne moved to Phoenix, AZ in 2001 and enjoyed the next 14 years in retirement.

Philip survived the passing of Roxanne in February 2015.

Philip moved to Chelmsford, MA, in February 2016 where he spent the next 5 years living with Jennifer and her family before moving to Sunny Acres Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for his final months of care for complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Philip is survived by his sisters Ruth Peters of Spirit Lake, IA, Eunice Easton of Cedar Falls, IA, and brother Nathan Stahmer of Scottsdale, AZ.
