Obituary for Norman Walter King

Norman King, 84, of Dracut, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2020 surrounded by his family.

Norman loved being outdoors, whether it was tending the garden with his neighbor, Mike, doing yardwork for friends and family, or going on walks with his wife Ruthann. He enjoyed country music, western movies, and loved eagles.

Norman was the hardest worker, and had several jobs that allowed him to be outside or working with his hands, including serving in the United States Air Force, and working at MIT. Even long into his retirement, he was painting houses and climbing up on roofs. He was known for being mechanically inclined and was often found tinkering in his garage trying to repair his latest finds.

Norman was also a very social person and always looked forward to meeting new people and spending time with his family and friends. We could always count on hearing many of his old stories and having lively discussions with him. Norman carried a wealth of knowledge and was a source of guidance for everyone. He could always be counted on for saying the right thing and showing his support out of love. He touched many lives with his compassion and positive ways.

He is predeceased by his parents Walter and Alice, his siblings; Robert, Ronald, Gladys, Jimmy, Joseph, Walter, Richard and Danny.

He is survived by his wife Ruthann, his siblings: Alice, Carol, Jackie, Alby, George, and Edward, his children: Pauline, Darlene, Tina, Norman, Joey, and Ron, his grandchildren: Crystal, Robert, Michael, Rachel, Jonathan, Justine, Candice, Arianna, Josie, Jessica, Jenae, and Ashley, and his many wonderful great-grandchildren.

A memorial service and celebration of life will take place on Sunday, March 8th at noon at the Elks Lodge 300 Littleton Road, Chelmsford, MA.
