Norah May Pereira, 98, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 27, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Bernardino Pereira.
She was born in London, England on December 11, 1921 and was the daughter of the late John and Winifred (Murphy) May.
Norah moved to the United States in 1947. She spent most of her professional career in New York where she fell in love with the fashion world. Norah became a designer and model working for many of the large fashion houses. She loved animals and her greatest joy came from the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her first cousin Kathleen Betty McElaney of Chelmsford and her cousins, John McElaney, Kathryn Challingsworth, Marian Howes, Theresa Gilman, Mary Sueltenfuss and Michael McElaney. Norah also leaves behind her cousins in England, Martin Kaufman, Larry O'Mahony, Jim O'Mahony, Mary Weston, David Paul and Richard Paul. She was predeceased by her loving sister, Rosina May.
Services for Norah will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice 360 Merrimack St., Building 9, Lawrence, MA 01843.
