Obituary for Michael D. Waters

Michael D. Waters, age 53, a 47 year resident of Chelmsford, passed away at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, MA on October 14th 2022, surrounded by his loving family and life long friends. He was the beloved husband of Mayumi (Koizumi) Waters with whom he enjoyed 20 years of marriage.

He was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was the son of the late John and Kathleen (Lacey) Waters.

Michael grew up in Chelmsford, played football in high school, and golf for fun. He played saxophone and string bass in the band and orchestra. During this time, he developed friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Michael was devoted to his family and especially his daughter Nadia.

He loved to take things apart and see how they worked. He also enjoyed hiking and mountain biking. He loved music, concerts, driving back roads and singing along to music. He loved Radio Paradise (radioparadise.com/blog), the film “It’s a Wonderful Life”, and the Star Wars series. His preferred season was summer and favorite holiday was Thanksgiving.

Michael was diagnosed with glioblastoma in 2011. Over these many years he has had several operations, procedures and treatments to extend his life.

In addition to his loving wife, Michael is survived by his beautiful daughter Nadia, his sister Kathy (Waters) Lamourine, his brother-in-law Mark Lamourine, and their children Chiara (Lamourine) Buchanan and her husband Alex Buchanan, and Aesling Lamourine, his brother John Waters and his sister-in-law Amanda (Hruby) Waters, and their children Savannah Waters and her husband Nikhil Sriram, and Gabriel and Dylan Waters.

Michael was preceded in death by his siblings Theresa and William Waters.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, October 20, at 11am. The family welcomes guests to bring photos and stories to share.
