Obituary for Michael John Greeley

Michael John Greeley, age 57, a resident of North Chelmsford, passed away peacefully at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, MA surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Nice Maria (DeVita) Greeley with whom he enjoyed 17 years of marriage, and proud doggie dad to Brownie.

Michael was born on April 23, 1967, son of the late William and Mary B. (Maher) Greeley. He was a long-time resident of Waltham, MA, graduating Waltham High School in 1985. Michael took great pride in his recent employment at Assisting Hands as the Community & Family Liaison Director. He found it necessary to end his work career exactly how he began it, by assisting and helping elders.

Devoted to a life of laughter, love, and generosity, Michael lived with a tenacity to lift the spirits of all he came in contact with, both young and old. With his quick wit, infectious laugh, and cheerful presence, he turned family functions into playgrounds of amusement, and times with friends into nothing short of a comedy show. To spot Michael at any event, one could look for the nearest joyous table topped with Reisling, a deck of cards, and Nice’s corn beef and cabbage. Michael found refuge in his passion for traveling, adventuring anywhere and everywhere with Nice always by his side. When not traveling, he took pleasure in acts of charity, and as a member of the Free Masons. He was always available to help those that needed it most through any way he saw possible. Loyalty to his wife, to his family, and his emulation of love were Michael’s paramount accomplishments throughout his lifetime.

In addition to his loving wife, Michael is survived by his brother, Kevin and his husband Kyle Martell; his sister, Katy and her husband Gary Bastarache; and in-laws Maria and the late Pietro DeVita; Judith and Matthew Kosakowski; Anna and Michael Santos; Antonella and Joseph Muscarella. Also survived by his beloved nieces and nephews, Jenna, Sarah, Peter, David, Madison, Luca, Joey, and Conor.
