Obituary for Maureen Ruth Hogan

Maureen Ruth Hogan, age 66, a longtime resident of Dracut, formerly of Sharon and the North End of Boston, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28, 2022 at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Norwood on September 13, 1956, and was a daughter of the late John J. Jr. and Helen V. (Hawkins) Hogan.

Maureen was raised in Sharon and graduated from Sharon High School with the Class of 1974. She furthered her education at Vermont College for two years, then graduated from Norwich University in 1978 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. Her love of skiing brought her to reside in Leadville, CO for several years where she began her career teaching nursery school. Upon her return to the East Coast, she settled in the North End of Boston for several more years, where she began serving at Jimbo’s restaurant. Maureen then moved to Dracut to raise her family and work as a special education paraprofessional in the Dracut Public School System, where she remained for more than 30 years. She continued her work in the service industry as well, waitressing at Legal Seafoods for over 35 years.

In her spare time, Maureen enjoyed embroidery, swimming, gardening, nature, reading, and spending time at the beach. She had a special fondness for children and animals, including the many pets she cared for over the years. Most of all, Maureen cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her three daughters.

Maureen leaves her daughters, Natalie Jahn of Philadelphia, PA, Arianne Jahn of Boston, and Samantha Jahn of Derry, NH; and her siblings, Mary Beth Dickson of Gray, ME and Michael Hogan of Brunswick, ME. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2022, from 2 pm – 5 pm in the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Her funeral service and interment will be held privately. Memorial donations in her name may be made to Special Education Department's Best Buddies programming by mailing checks made out to the Dracut Public Schools to the Office of the Superintendent of Schools, Eldridge Administration Building, 2063 Lakeview Ave Dracut, MA 01826.
