Obituary for Mary K. "Kay" Stiling (Schuman)

With sadness, gratitude, and profound love, the family of Mary Kathryn “Kay” (Schuman) Stiling announces her passing on February 20th, 2023 peacefully at her home in Westford at age 87. Kay was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a woman with the heart of an angel and the spirit of a warrior, friend to many whom she gave her time and energy to enrich the lives of those she knew and loved.

Originally born and schooled in Chicago, Illinois, Kay was a 60-year resident of Westford, working and retiring after more than 20 years for the Westford School Superintendent’s Office. The daughter of the late Bernard and Rose (O’Leary) Schuman, Kay was born on September 22nd, 1935.

Kay was the beloved wife of the late Thomas O. Stiling, with whom she enjoyed 68 years of marriage, raising her four infant children while working and supporting Tom while he graduated from Michigan State University after his service with the U.S. Navy.

Kay loved to travel, with trips to Germany, Hawaii, and Switzerland among her favorites. An avid fan of family game nights, she loved her Boston sports teams and local theatre.

Kay’s passion was her large family. She is survived by her four children, Tommy, David, Michael, and Sherry (Lory) and their spouses, Diana, Cindy, Nancy, and Bob, as well as grandchildren, Nicole, Tim, Valerie, David, Katie, Andrew, Olivia, Nathan, Joshua, Alex, Shane, and Jake. Kay was also blessed with four great grandchildren, Joseph, Annie, Addison, and Max.

Funeral services and interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the name of Kay and Tom Stiling to the American Kidney Fund at kidneyfund.org.
