Obituary for Mary D. Bottas (Dempsey)

Mary “Midge” (Dempsey) Bottas, 83, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 31, 2021 at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late George P. Bottas, Jr. who passed away in 1989.

Mary was born in Peekskill, New York on August 20, 1937 and was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Duggan) Dempsey. She was a graduate of Peekskill High School class of 1955. George and Mary moved their young family to Chelmsford in 1974. They all became very active with St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford. Mary was one of the founding members of the parish’s youth ministry. She loved Seabrook beach and her time spent at Gonzaga/Eastern Point Retreat House. Mary most especially cherished the time spent caring for her family.

Mary is survived by her sons; Paul Bottas of Chelmsford and George Bottas and his wife Tanya of Bedford, NH, her grandchildren; Michael Bottas and Chloe Bottas. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was sadly predeceased by her 4 sisters; Barbara Begany, Dorothy Natarelli, Joan Dean and Rita Dempsey.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 9 o’clock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., CHELMSFORD. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH. Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mary’s name to House of Hope, 812 Merrimack St., Lowell, MA 01854.
