Print
Louis G. Robillard, Sr. passed away Tuesday after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Donna (Strom) Robillard for 55 years.

Lou was born on January 13, 1935, to the late Alice (Bernard) and Louis E. Robillard in Springfield MA, but quickly became a North Cambridge boy through and through when his family moved to Cambridge when he was 10 years old. “Pesky” graduated from Our Lady of Pity School in Cambridge. He immediately started working at MIT in Cambridge and from there transferred to a new company being formed, The MITRE Corporation where he worked for 32 years before retiring in 1991.

Lou and Donna purchased their home in Chelmsford the day before they were married and have lived there ever since. “Papa Lou” was a staple of the Chelmsford Little League for 40 years, as a coach of both the Major and Senior League Braves and then as the director of the Chelmsford Baseball tournament from 1984 to 2011, bringing in more than 80 teams from all over Massachusetts and New Hampshire every summer. Papa Lou truly loved baseball, and continued his involvement with the sport as an assistant coach for the Chelmsford High Baseball Program.

Besides his wife Donna, Lou is survived by one daughter, Karen and her husband Joseph LoCoco of Chelmsford, and four sons: Louis G. Robillard, Jr. of Chelmsford, Mark and his wife Mary-Jo (Barry) of Chelmsford, Kevin and his wife Donna (Murray) Follett of Litchfield, NH, and Scott and his wife Katherine (Avila) of Tewksbury. He was adored by 11 grandchildren: Amanda, Ashlynn, Alexandra and Joseph LoCoco, Lauren & Brian Robillard, Kayla, Justin, and Heather Follett, Madison and Cooper Robillard.

Lou is also survived by his sister Marie and her husband Vito Augello of Concord, MA, two sisters-in-laws, Marilyn (Strom) Sullivan of Billerica, and Bernardine (Rourke) Strom of Shrewsbury; one brother-in-law, John Strom and his wife Georgette (Williams) Strom of Ansonia, CT.; and many nieces, grand-nieces, nephews and grand-nephews. Lou was predeceased by his sisters-in-law Ruth (Strom) Murphy of Woburn and Patricia (McMorrow) Strom of Charlestown, his brothers-in-law George (Bo) Strom of Shrewsbury, William Sullivan, Jr. of Billerica, and Lawrence Murphy of Cambridge.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 3 to 7 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 o'clock at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford.
