Obituary for Lillian Ann Wass (Seyfried)

Lillian A. (Seyfried) Wass, age 88, a longtime Chelmsford resident, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at her home in Mercer, Maine, surrounded by her loving family and her devoted caregivers. She was the beloved wife of the late Russell D. Wass, Jr. with whom she shared 61 years of marriage until his passing in 2017.

Lillian was involved in many activities prior to retirement. She was a 4-H leader and was very involved with the yearly 4-H fair. Additionally, she was both a Girl Scout leader and a Boy Scout leader. In her early years as a Chelmsford resident she was active in the Congregational Church and assisted in organizing the annual church fair.

Lillian’s passion was gardening which included vegetable and flowers. In pursuing her passion, she worked at Nashoba Side Farm in Littleton, MA and at Agway in South Chelmsford, MA. Both allowing her to engage with others who shared her love of gardening.

Lillian’s biggest passion was her family. She selflessly cared for family members in need and was a willing babysitter of her grandchildren whenever the need arose. She enjoyed the many family trips and vacations including several to Disney World. Lillian was always available for family. She and her late husband, Russ, had the opportunity to frequently travel both internationally and domestically upon Russ’ retirement. For the last 25 years however, what she most enjoyed was spending time with family at her lake-side camp in Mercer, Maine.

Lillian leaves her two children Cynthia Wass-McDermott and her husband, Robert, of Pepperell, MA, Loren Wass and his wife, Deborah, of Kennebunk, ME. Her grandchildren Emily Dickson, Loren Andrew and his fiancé, Candice and Kyle Wass. Her great-grandchildren Parker Eli, Mason Dixon, Keith and Kristianna. Her special extended family members Anthony Bellofatto and his wife, Ali, and their three children Zac, Grace and Nicholas.

Graveside services will be held at Heart Pond Cemetery in South Chelmsford, MA, on Monday August 3, 2020 at 11am. A celebration of her life will follow at Kimball Farm (another secret passion of hers’ was Ice Cream), in Westford, MA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Lillian can be made to Pine Tree Camp, 149 Bath ST, Bath, ME 04530. Pine Tree Camp is a special needs camp that her granddaughter, Emily enjoys attending every summer.
