Obituary for Kathleen P. "Kitty" Simpson (LaBonte)
Kathleen P. “Kitty” (LaBonte) Simpson, age 87, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away at Robbins Brook Assisted Living in Acton on Tuesday, May 3, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Jerry Simpson with whom she shared 54 years of marriage. They were made for each other.
She was born in Somerville on March 14, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Mary “Nan” (DeCourcey) Bernard and Ernest LaBonte.
Kitty was a supportive grandmother to her grandchildren and was devoted to her companion animals over the years. She enjoyed walking, eating out and boating with her family. When she and Jerry moved to Essex she threw herself into gardening and created beautiful gardens at their home.
Kathleen is survived by her children Ann Simpson, Martha Pulley, Nora Hannafin and Ellen Simpson, her grandchildren Mitch, Jerry, Eli, Laura, Gwen, Emi and Joon, and her great grandchildren Sal, Michaela and Kensley, as well as her sister Maureen Talayco, nieces and nephews including Lisa, Carol and Nina, her cousin Sheila, son-in-law Ejyo, and cherished cat Alfie. She was predeceased by her brother Ernest “Buzzy” LaBonte and her son-in-law Dick Pulley.
Funeral services will be held privately. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to the Massachusetts Audubon Society at massaudubon.org.
