Obituary for Julia Agostino (Simari)

BOSTON - Julia (Simari) Agostino, a longtime resident of Boston's North End, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at the North End Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Nicola Agostino for 73 years prior to his passing in 2010.

She was born in Gioiosa Ionica, Italy, in the province of Reggio Calabria, on January 3, 1922, a daughter of the late Frank and Rosa Maria (Maggio) Simari. Julia worked as a seamstress and at times traveled around making clothes and dresses for various influential people.

Julia is survived by her devoted children; son Italo Agostino and his wife Marie of Chelmsford, and daughter Rosetta Sabbag and her husband Daniel of Bedford, five loving grandchildren; Marcus Agostino, Diana Giacalone and her husband Larry, Lea Dagg, Adrian Agostino and his wife Amanda, and Erik Sabbag, and two great-grandchildren, Lucas Dagg and Jason Giacalone. She leaves a younger sister Gioconda Mannetta of Baltimore and many nieces and nephews in both Italy and the United States. Mrs. Agostino was predeceased by her son, Romualdo Agostino.

Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Her Funeral Service will be on Friday at 9 AM in the Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
