Obituary for Judith E. Musgrove (Matson)

Judith E. (Matson) Musgrove, 81, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7th, 2021. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert C. Musgrove for almost 60 years.

Born in Fitchburg on October 7, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Kaino and Lahja (Lampi) Matson.

Judith attended schools in Fitchburg and graduated from Fitchburg High School in 1957. She worked for many years as a legal secretary and retired in 2012 as the assistant to local businessman and philanthropist George D. Behrakis. Judith was a faithful parishioner of Central Congregational Church in Chelmsford where she served on several committees, including the Christian Education Committee, board of Deacons, Women’s fellowship and participated in the church’s book club.

Judith enjoyed art, traveling, luncheons with friends, decorating her home and being part of her community. More than anything, she loved her family and especially her only grandson, Zachary. She was truly a kind, sweet, caring and generous person who could light up the room with her smile.

She is survived by her sons Robert G. Musgrove and his partner CJ Gueldner of Dayton, NV and David A. Musgrove and his partner Patricia Shurtleff of Lunenburg, MA, a grandson Zachary D. Musgrove of Acton, MA. Judith’s sister-in-law Ann Matson of Westborough, her niece Sarah Gay and her husband Matthew of Mansfield, MA, her nephew Atty. Scott Matson and his wife Jennifer of Everett, MA, niece Donna Jesse and her husband George Jesse of Plymouth, MA, nephews Michael Musgrove and his wife Paula Musgrove of CT and Gary Musgrove of Reno, NV. She is also survived by a grandniece Grace Marie Gay and grandnephew Garrett Matthew Gay. She was pre-deceased by her husband Robert C. Musgrove, April 2nd, 2019, her daughter Ann E. Musgrove on June 13th, 2001, her daughter- in-law Gilda J. Musgrove on June 16th, 2001 and her brother John J.L. Matson on October 6, 2019.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15th, 2021 at 2:00pm at Central Congregational Church, One Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Central Congregational Church.
