Born June 17, 1957 in Woburn MA
Died one week short of his 65th birthday on June 6, 2022
Joseph Anthony Silva, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away Monday June 6 at Lahey Medical Center with his beloved wife Angie (this year would have marked their twenty second anniversary) by his side after a courageous battle with pulmonary lung disease.
Joe was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Delcia (Horton) Silva, and his brothers Eddie, Wayne, Tony, and Gene Silva. He is survived by his wife Angie (Soucy) Silva; three children, Jennifer Ferrer and her husband Lou, Joanne Silva, and Donna Silva; his sisters, Donna Silva, and Delcia Silva; his brother, Frank Silva; as well as 15 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Additionally, he leaves behind his three stepchildren, Leann and her husband Jeff Gerding, Dawn and her husband Scott Elliott, and Michael Colle, as well as his sister-in-law MaryAnn Silva.
Joe attended Chelmsford High with the class of 1976.
Joe was happiest on his Harley, a 2003 Anniversary Road King he was very proud of; heading north to the mountains with Angie for another adventure, bike week at Laconia an annual trip. He loved hunting in the woods of Maine and New Hampshire or traveling out west for a big game hunt with his brothers at his side.
People and food were a constant with Joe. For those who were lucky enough to attend one of his and Angie’s legendary pig roasts (held annually for over twenty years) the site of Joe at the carving board was a site to behold. He was a master of the grill and the smoker alike, known for his ribs and brisket.
Joe was a big man with a bigger heart. If he was your friend, you had a friend for life. He would do anything for those he loved.
He had a wonderful sense of humor. He could be childlike in his silliness or downright devilish. He loved nothing more than to laugh and enjoy life with those around him.
He leaves a big empty space in the world. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him, including Benny the Chihuahua and his cat, Poe Kitty.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022 from 12 noon - 3 pm in the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Funeral services and interment will be held privately.
