To all the Lewis family.. Please know that Joan was such an important person in my professional as well as my personal life. She and Bill lived next door to us for years on Driftwood Drive and her grandchildren played at my home. Joan was an incredible influence in my undergraduate and graduate nursing education. I became the nurse, nurse educator I am today because of the grace and kindness she she demonstrated as a nurse faculty and how she mentored so many nurses. I would like the family to know that I have continued on as a nurse educator and have always remembered to show kindness and compassion to my students as they are all going on to work in the noblest of professions.. Nursing. Joan will be deeply missed but please know that her gift of nursing to so many students will keep on giving to everyone for years to come.

Joan was a very faithful member of the Associates of the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa since 1991. She made several valuable contributions to the group's growth. She represented the Sisters of Charity of Ottawa on the Board of Marguerite's Place in Nashua, NH, a transitional residence for single women and their children. She will be greatly missed! Our prayers are with her loving family.
