Obituary for Isabel E. Tredeau (Mancuso)

Isabel E. (Mancuso) Tredeau, a long time resident of Chelmsford, passed away at the age of 91 after an extended illness on January 12, 2021 at the Palm Center, Chelmsford, with her loving family by her side. She was the beloved wife of David H. Tredeau with whom she shared 66 years of marriage.

She was born in Milford, MA, and was the daughter of Rosario and Angelina (D’Agostino) Mancuso who immigrated to America from Pietraperzia, Enna, Sicilia, Italy and Giovinazzo, Bari, Puglia, Italy, respectively.

Isabel grew up in Milford, MA and was a cheerleader for the Milford Boys Club. She remained life-long friends with her fellow cheerleaders. She graduated from Milford High School in 1947. It was there that she met and fell in love with her date to the Junior Prom, Dave Tredeau. They have been together ever since and remained the best dancers on the floor. In 1954, they married and started their family. Together they resided in Milford, Framingham, El Paso, TX, Chelmsford, Orlando, FL, Schrobenhausen, Bavaria, Germany and finally retired to Boca Raton, FL. While living in Schrobenhausen for 3 months, Isabel and Dave traveled extensively through Germany, Bavaria, France, Switzerland, and Italy. The highlight of their trip was attending a breathtaking Christmas mass at the Basilica di San Marco in Venice. In 2004, they returned to Chelmsford to be close to their family. After high school and until she married, Isabel worked as a telephone operator in Milford and knew the phone numbers for practically every resident and business in town by heart. She also worked part-time as a hand model. She devoted the rest of her life to caring for her family, which she felt was the most important and enjoyable job of all. Isabel conducted herself as a lady, had a beautiful sweet spirit and was loved by all who knew her. She was a positive light and optimistic, and saw the good in every person and situation. She had an open mind, was progressive, a great humanitarian, a champion of the disenfranchised, and inclusive of all people and kind to all she met. She passed on these values and many more to her children as important life lessons. She always gave great advice and knew the right thing to do in any situation. Isabel was proud of her Italian heritage and loved cooking the recipes from the old country for her large extended family. Family was everything to her and the gatherings she hosted will always be remembered. She was very artistic and spent many years oil painting. Additionally, she was a talented interior designer and designed and sewed clothing for herself and others.

In addition to her husband, Isabel leaves her 3 children and their spouses, Kim Richardson and her husband Paul of Tyngsborough, Susan Stander and her husband Robert of Chelmsford, and Thomas Tredeau and his wife Mary of Chelmsford; her grandchildren, Paige (Richardson) Choi and her husband Aaron of North Andover, Sean Green of Chelmsford, Matthew Tredeau of Chelmsford, and David Ng of Swansey, NH; her brother Samuel Mancuso and his wife Martha of Milford; and her sister-in-law Ruth Mancuso of Littleton. She is also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Isabel was preceded in death by her brother James Mancuso, sister-in-law Betty (Hixon) Mancuso, sister Rita (Mancuso) Byron, sister-in-law Anna (Lombardi) Mancuso, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Paul and Rosemary (Larkin) Tredeau, all of Milford.

Due to gathering limitations, Funeral Services and Interment will be held at a future date when safe for all. For Isabel’s love of animals and wildlife, memorial donations may be made in her name to MSPCA Nevin’s Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844 or online at mspca.org.
