Irene F. (Garneau) DeLorme, 95, a longtime Lowell resident, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 13, 2023 at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley, Littleton, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Raymond DeLorme with whom she shared 35 years of marriage until his passing in 1980.
She was born in Weston on September 28, 1927 and was the daughter of the late Felix and Anna (Boudreau) Garneau.
Irene was raised in Lowell and was educated in the Lowell School System. She worked at Raytheon as a source inspector for over 30 years until her retirement in 1985. After her retirement, she continued to work at Wang Laboratory also as a source inspector. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling all over the world with her best friend Auntie Claire. Together they also enjoyed movies, shopping, and were always on the go. Most of all Irene cherished the time with her family and close friends.
Irene leaves her children, Allan DeLorme and his wife Tina of Littleton, and Donna Marion and her husband Gerry of Dracut; her grandchildren, Dustin, Lindsay, Kevin, Joseph, and Alyssa; her great grandson Luke and great granddaughter Aubrey. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Sadly, she is predeceased by her son Raymond DeLorme, and her six brothers, Roland, Leo, Alley, Felix Jr., Raymond, and Bobby Garneau.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, March 20, 2023 from 9 -10 am at Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 am following the visitation at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chelsmford.
