Obituary for Howard T. Cervantes Jr.
Howard T. Cervantes, Jr., age 91, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Sunny Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chelmsford, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Mary J. (Byrnes) with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.
He was born in Yonkers, NY on September 7, 1931, and was a son of the late Howard T. and Marie (Hunter) Cervantes.
Howard earned degrees in electrical engineering from both Michigan State University and New York University. His career at Mitre Corporation in Bedford, MA spanned 30 years until his retirement. He proudly served in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. In his spare time, he enjoyed genealogy and antiquing. Most of all, he liked eating out with his family.
In addition to his loving wife, Howard leaves his children, Anne Cervantes of Fitchburg, MA, Jeanne Lapidas of Austin, TX, James Cervantes and his wife Varda Haimo of Lexington, MA, Mary Sanger of Merrimac, MA, and Paul Cervantes of Chelmsford; his grandchildren, Andy, Chris, Becky, Matt, Jesse, Jacky, and Tim; and his two great-grandchildren.
