Obituary

Hong (Alice) Zhao, age 53, a longtime Westford resident, passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Yuan Zhang Song, with whom she shared 26 years of marriage.

She was born on March 13, 1967 in Tianshui, Gansu, China, and was the daughter of Yanfang Liu and the late Zuhua Zhao.

Hong was raised in China and was a graduate of JingGong Affiliated High School Class of 1985. She received her bachelor’s degree from Beijing Institute of Technology in China and went on to receive her master's degree from The University of Paris XI.

Working in IT services as a Software Engineer for the past two decades, Hong most recently worked for UKG, formerly Kronos, in Lowell. For more than 10 years, she worked at Nokia in Burlington and worked at F5 Networks in Lowell for over 5 years. Hong was passionate about her work and built an established career in IT services.

Hong devoted her life to her beloved daughters and husband, and she cared faithfully for her mother. Hong lives her life with grace, inspiring in all others what she brought to her family and friends. She was also a well-loved and popular member of her community. Among Hong’s expansive circles of friends, she was known for her intelligent humor, generous heart, and adventurous spirit. She loved to travel, having lived, studied or worked in four different countries across three continents. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, jogging, enjoying TV shows, and shared her thoughts and ideas among her friends. She will be fondly remembered and tremendously missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her loving husband and mother, she leaves her daughters, Andee and Claire, sister Liping Zhao, and brother Ping Liu and several nieces and nephews.

Dear Hong,
I can’t find the words to say how sorry I am, and how much you will be missed. I still remember us walking together during work break time and your talking to me with a smiling face. You were the kindest, sweetest lady we could ever meet. My heart goes out to your family. They are in our prayers, God Bless.
