TEWKSBURY – Gladys B. (Bateson) Haberl, recently of Tewksbury, and formerly of Dalton, MA and Sebastian, FL, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at the Saints Campus of Lowell General Hospital. She was the beloved wife of the late John Brooks Haberl who died in 2012 after celebrating 56 years of marriage.

She was born in Passaic, NJ on January 13, 1927 and was a daughter of the late Robert Bateson and Estelle (Wojehowski) Romaine.

Gladys grew up in New Jersey and later moved to New Mexico where she was employed as a bookkeeper and where she met Brooks. They spent time living in Utica, Ithaca and Syracuse, NY before settling in Dalton, MA where they resided for many years. After retiring, Gladys and Brooks enjoyed living in Sebastian, FL until Brook's passing when she returned to Massachusetts. Gladys volunteered at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield and was active for many years in the Women's Guild of the Episcopal Church.

Gladys is survived by her son Karl Robert Haberl and his wife Cathy of Tyngsboro, and a daughter Karen Haberl of Sunderland; her cherished grandchildren; Collin Haberl, Heather McDonald, Jordan Haberl, Evan Haberl and Richard Wray, and her precious great-grandchildren; Autumn, Desmond, Bethany, Colette and Fiona. She also leaves her brother Robert Bateson and his wife Ann Marie of North Carolina. Gladys was sadly predeceased by her daughter Denise Tetrault.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St., Chelmsford.

Her Funeral Service will be Friday at 10 o'clock at All Saints Episcopal Church, 10 Billerica Rd., Chelmsford. KINDLY MEET AT THE CHURCH.

Interment at 1:30 pm in the New Hampshire State Veteran’s Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH.
