Obituary for Gerald A. "Jerry" Robinson

Gerald A. “Jerry” Robinson, age 81, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. He was the beloved husband of the late Kathleen (Bradley) Robinson with whom he enjoyed 17 years of marriage.

He was born in Lowell on March 15, 1940 and was the son of the late Gerald F. and Helen (Hardenburgh) Robinson.

Jerry was a 1958 Chelmsford High School graduate and Capt. of the baseball team. He went on to further his education and receive his business degree from Merrimack College (1962). Mr. Robinson was proud to serve his country as a medic in the Army reserves for 6 years. Jerry went on to work at MIT in Contract Administration and later at Community Teamwork in Lowell as Manager of the Skill Center and Director of Energy Programs for 25 years before taking advantage of early retirement in 1995.

Jerry was an avid sports enthusiast playing men’s fastpitch softball, basketball, and downhill skiing until he was introduced to motorcycle trail riding by his late brother-in-law Bob Baker. He continued that passion for many years enjoying the New England scenery at a very fast pace as a member of the Nashoba Valley Riders Motorcycle Club. He loved getting away to his camp in Vermont. Here, he and Kathy “ventured” the dirt roads in his truck, rode four wheelers and cross-country skied. Locally he enjoyed hiking the trails at the Cranberry Bog and Great Brook State Farm.
Coach of many youth sports in Chelmsford he was also a member of the American Legion Post 313 and Chelmsford Elks becoming Elk of the Year 2012.

Jerry is survived by his children; Kellie Greska and her husband Jeff of Milford NH, Derek Robinson and his wife Stacey of Chelmsford, his grandchildren; Luke, Shane, Kaela, Jake & Kylie Greska, Elizabeth and Avery Robinson, his sister Nancy Clark and her husband Steve of Hudson, NH and his former spouse Ann-Marie (Pigeon) Robinson.

Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate Jerry after the visitation Thursday at 6:30pm at the Chelmsford Elks Lodge 300 Littleton Rd. Chelmsford.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday from 3pm to 6pm at the Blake Chelmsford Funeral Home, 24 Worthen St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Chelmsford All Sports Boosters Club, Scholarship Fund PO Box 91 Chelmsford, MA 01824 to benefit the youth in the town he enjoyed growing up and raising his family.
