He then went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University Law School.

Attorney Marchand worked with a law group in Andover for a period of time but was self-employed for most of his career. He specialized in Commercial and Industrial Real Estate and Real Estate Development.

Gary was known for his quick wit and loved to laugh. He was also a history buff. He loved fast cars and all things aeronautical and obtained his pilot’s license for single engine planes as a young man. He enjoyed boating, and just being on the water, especially in Chatham. Above all else, he loved his family. He adored his daughter Jacquelyn, her husband Douglas and their two children. He will be deeply missed by his family, close friends, and colleagues. He will be especially missed by his grandsons Grayson and Colin who affectionately called him “Bampy.”

In addition to his loving wife, Gary leaves his daughter Jacquelyn DeCastro and her husband Douglas of Sudbury, and their two sons, Grayson and Colin. He also leaves his sisters, Cheryl deMoulpied and her husband David, and Denise O’Donnell and her husband Charles, both of Chelmsford; his sisters-in-law, former State Representative Susan Rourke of Meredith, NH, and Nancy Freker of Chelmsford; his brother-in-law, Frank Fergola of Haverhill; and many much-loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Lionel D. Marchand Jr.

It being his wish, visiting hours have been omitted and funeral services were held privately.
