Ernest Leroy "Ernie" Neville, Jr. age 78, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at Northwood Rehabilitation & Health Care Center, with his loving family by his side. He was the beloved husband of Joan O. (Bomengen) Neville with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.
He was born on June 19, 1942 in Billerica and was the son of the late Ernest Leroy Neville, Sr., and Dorothy L. (Smith) Neville.
Ernie loved to garden, especially taking care of his tomatoes on the front porch and concord grape vines in his backyard. He loved to travel and camp with his wife, and treasured family cookouts. Ernie loved to spend time with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he leaves behind his children, Kathy Flanders and her companion, Don Miller of Westford; Barbara Homem and her husband, Joe of Pelham, NH; Kimberly Dupepe of Panama City, Florida; and Robert Neville, Sr., and his wife, Lori of Chelmsford; his grandchildren, Yvonne, Keith, Erika, Sandra, Madeline, Shane, Lizzy, and Robert "RJ"; his great-grandchildren, Emily, Veronica and Isabel; his siblings, Karen, John, Mark and Toni; his best friend Jim Fiske of North Andover; and his beloved dogs Sophie, Sadie and Cody.
Sadly, in addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Constance "Connie" and Dianne.
Public visiting hours will be held at BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen Street, CHELMSFORD on Thursday, January 21, from 10:00-11:30 am. Due to gathering limitations, Funeral Services and Interment will be held privately.
