Obituary for Elizabeth “Betty” Donovan
Elizabeth “Betty” (Messier) Donovan, 94, a lifelong resident of Chelmsford passed away peacefully at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Chelmsford on Saturday, July 30, 2022. She was the beloved wife of the late Forrest L. Donovan who died in 1982.
She was born on May 13, 1928, in Lowell a daughter of the late Omer J. and Lillian E. (Welcome) Messier.
Prior to her retirement she was employed for 22 years in the Chelmsford School Department, first as a secretary for 16 years and later in the purchasing department/Superintendent’s Office for 6 years. After her retirement, she was an office manager for 10 years at the Greenlawn Co. Betty was a communicant of St. Mary Parish in Chelmsford. She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Golf Club, past president of Mt. Pleasant Women’s Division and a past member of Vesper Country Club.
Betty is survived by two loving children, Jill E. Donovan of Chelmsford, and Bruce R. Donovan and his wife Joanne (Pacheco) Donovan of Chelmsford; as well as 6 grandchildren, Pamela Jenkins, Michael Donovan and his wife Suki, Traci Olsen and her husband Peter, Kerry Donovan, Eric Donovan, and Jay Cunio; 6 great-grandchildren, Joshua, Anika, Michael Jenkins, Audrey Olsen, Shyloh Weatherbee Cunio, and Kenzie Paige Cunio; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved son, Alan Lee Donovan in 2004; and two sisters, Theresa Beauregard of Lowell and Pauline Carroll of Chelmsford.
Funeral Service and Interment will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betty’s memory to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org.
