Eleanor C. "Ellie" Lathe, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 7, 2019, at Hathorne Hill in Danvers. She was the loving companion of the late John D. "Don" Coyne with whom she shared 30 years up until his passing in 2016.
She was born in Ware, MA to the late Martin and Rhea (Portier) Lathe on March 9, 1940.
Ellie was raised in Warren, MA and spent several years managing apartment complexes in the Chelmsford area before she and Don settled in Chelmsford. Prior to her retirement, she was an office manager at Hanscom Air Force Base. Ellie loved to travel, paint nautical scenes, play golf, sew, and watch cooking shows. She was a longtime member of the Chelsmford Elks.
Ellie is survived by her two sons; Dwayne Gilman and his fiance Francesca Vitagliano of Danvers and Martin Gilman and his wife Amy of East Brookfield, MA, a brother; Martin "Skip" Lathe and his wife Joyce of Idaho, two sisters; Audrey Demetrius of Warren and Linda Krzyzek of Monument Beach, MA, three grandchildren; Tim Gilman of Somerville, and Aiden and Wyatt Gilman of East Brookfield, MA. She was the former wife of the late Donald E. Gilman.
A memorial visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the BLAKE CHELMSFORD FUNERAL HOME, 24 Worthen St., CHELMSFORD. A remembrance gathering will follow the visitation at the Chelmsford Elks, 300 Littleton Rd., Chelmsford.
