Obituary for Eleanor "Ellie" M. Sarno Anderson

Eleanor “Ellie” Marie Sarno Anderson, age 89, a resident of Lexington for over 53 years, died peacefully on June 10, 2022 in the prayerful presence of her family after an inspiring and lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. Ellie was married to Robert E. Anderson who predeceased her in 2019 after 62 years of marriage.

Born in Cambridge, MA she was the daughter of the late Angelo John Sarno and Theresa (Basso) Sarno.

Raised in Medford, MA, she graduated from Medford High School and went on to earn her certificate in nursing.
Always full of energy and an instant friend to all she met, she was especially proud of her children and deeply devoted to her grandchildren. She was a living example of Proverbs 17:6: “Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.”

She is survived by her sons; Christopher and his wife Catherine Cahill Anderson of Westford, MA, Scott Anderson of Biloxi, MS, and Jeffrey and his wife Candace Marks Anderson of Mystic, CT, a sister, Priscilla of Lexington, MA, eight grandchildren; Carly Anderson and her husband Joshua Revkin, Jack, Sarah, Laurel, Sophia, Claire, Lily and Emmett Anderson, and her great-grandchild, Henry Norman Anderson Revkin.

Ellie was a communicant of St. Bridget Catholic Church in Lexington for 53 years.

Her family is indebted to the dedicated and skilled staff at Carleton Willard Village in Bedford, MA. Many “Willard Warriors” provided Ellie’s exceptional care with kindness and compassion since 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Bob and Ellie Anderson to the “Carleton Willard Employee Appreciation Fund,” 100 Old Billerica Road, Bedford, MA 01730.

Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 17, from 9:30 – 10:30 AM at St. Mary Parish, 25 North Rd. Chelmsford. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated following the visiting hours at 11 am.
